This is a re-read of the book. Actually, my third read of it (so much for obsessive as in the definition of nerd). It qualifies for guilty pleasure.

I found the book engaging. Could not put it down. The most interesting part being the discovey of the copper key from the first gate in the quest.

That first riddle is very differente from the depiction in the film; no doubt a race with famous cars looks cool in the big screen, but the book is much more interesting for me (despite not having played much D&D back in the day, but RuneQuest instead).

The book is well written, keeping the pace and suspense. It is good in that sense.

Pop culture if referenced from an American point of view; and there is bit of Japanese pop as well (again, from an american perspective).

During the read I tried to follow references that I have missed in the past. In this read I learnt about Danny Elfman's band Oingo Boingo: I knew about Oingo Boingo but did not know Elfman was on it. The rest of the musical references were not that interesting.

About difficulty in the vocabulary: not much this time. Just had to search for the word dais which is a raised platform, as in a throne room.

I guess it will not be the last time I read this book. Ask me about it in 6 years from now.
